So That’s What That Means…
I just figured it out. Ubuntu is an African word that means “Holy crap, I can’t figure out how to configure Debian!”
(Also means: Great trouble-free windows replacement on an underpowered freebie laptop when installed with Xfce as the default desktop environment.)

Hey, I *can* configure Debian. I just like having Ubuntu do it all for me automagically :-)
Getting all your laptop hardware working the way you want it under Debian seems to take a couple hours of futzing with .conf files, manually installing drivers, and cursing ACPI. With Ubuntu, everything, I mean *everything*, “just works.” At least, that’s been my experience with it…
